It all started more than 80 years ago in Grainger County, Tennessee, where W. I. Daniel served as the Rutledge State Farm agent and country lawyer and later became the county judge. W.I. and his wife, Velma, had two sons, Creed and Zane; both sons became lawyers.
W.I. took great pride in the fact that, even though this was his economic livelihood, he believed the legal profession should help others in need.

The Daniel family law firm has been providing skilled legal representation to East Tennessee residents for over 80 years.
W. I. Daniel gave his sons, Creed and Zane, his endearing demeanor and innate intelligence.
As the eldest, Creed opened his legal practice in their hometown of Rutledge, Tennessee, after graduating from law school, and he has remained there ever since.
After graduating from law school in 1964, Zane started his small law practice in Knoxville, TN.
Zane started working as Knox County, Tennessee’s assistant district attorney in 1967. From 1970 to 1972, he was designated chief prosecutor.
Zane returned to private practice in 1972 after leaving the prosecutor’s office and remained practicing law until his death in 2006.

Zane Daniel bravely battled leukemia in 2006 but sadly lost the fight. His death left a significant hole in the East Tennessee Judicial System. He was a real “legal giant,” and those who knew him will always remember him as a class act and a gentleman. Todd and Jeff, Zane’s two sons, both went on to become lawyers and carry on their father’s legacy and traditional family values by defending the legal rights of Tennesseans and their families.

Jeff has more than 30 years of experience representing clients in state and federal courts in both civil and criminal cases throughout the state of Tennessee.
Todd has represented clients in both civil and criminal proceedings in state and federal courts across the state of Tennessee for more than 24 years.
